How Orthodontics Work
Whether our patient is a child, teenager or adult, the goal of orthodontic treatment is the same – to help straighten teeth so they look better and work better.
To accomplish this, we use braces or clear aligners to apply gentle pressure to your teeth and shift them into their prescribed positions over a period of months or years.
Traditional Braces
Traditional metal braces have been used for decades as a method for straightening teeth. When compared to braces offered decades ago, treatments now are more comfortable, lower profile and easier to care for.
How Braces Straighten Teeth
Braces put continuous pressure on teeth to slowly shift them into their prescribed positions over a period of time.
As pressure is applied and your teeth move, the bone changes shape to accommodate the teeth's new positions.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
Invisalign clear aligners help to gradually straighten your smile with a series of individually customized, clear plastic aligners that adjust your teeth over a period of time.
You can remove them when you'd prefer to keep the fact that you are straightening your teeth from others.
They look similar to custom whitening trays. They can even be removed so you can eat, drink, brush, and floss.
